The Kriselle Cellars Estate vineyard is home to the approximately 25 planted acres of grape. Our family vineyard is situated next to the beautiful Rogue River on a very unique site. Our grapes grow on a south-facing slope that is located between the Upper Table Rock Plateau and the Rogue River in southern Oregon.
Because of our closeness to the Rogue River the soil in our vineyard is primarily comprised of round river rock and alluvial silt. These rocks cause our vines to struggle a bit. The resulting fruit shows depth, concentration and character. The river rocks also add some heat during the long summer days, which allows our grapes to ripen fully and develop intense varietal flavors.
The vineyard has excellent air movement and benefits from the Rogue River’s moderating influence. The daily evening breeze cools the vineyard just enough to balance the sun. These temperature fluctuations allow the grapes to develop high acids and high sugar levels.
We grow several grape varieties. Much of the vineyard is planted in Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Tempranillo, but we also have small amounts of Malbec, Sangiovese, Viognier, and Sauvignon Blanc. Each plant gets personal attention–we prune and thin all the vines by hand. We are devoted to making sure you will savor each sip of our wines.
